The Maryville Chorale is the premiere choral ensemble within Maryville Choirs. The Chorale maintains an aggressive performance schedule, proudly presenting the best of Maryville High School to the local and extended communities we serve. The Chorale performs advanced high school and collegiate repertoire from all styles and genres. Chorale members must be fluent in interpretating written musical notation as they prepare and perform a large volume of music each year, performing not only music assigned to their ensemble but also with the Maryville Choirs Intermediate ensembles.
Admission to the Chorale is strictly limited to a maximum of 24 students (3 balanced SATB octets) in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
Students are selected by a rigorous application, interview, and audition process in April each year:
Application:
- Applications to the Maryville Chorale must be received before the beginning of Spring Break each year.
- Applying students must be 9th, 10th, or 11th graders and currently enrolled in a Maryville Choirs ensemble to be considered for the following year’s Chorale. Students participating in a Fall term Intermediate class meet this requirement.
- Applying students must request
- “Chorus IV: Advanced Mixed” as two of their primary electives (Fall and Spring terms) and
- “Chorus II: Intermediate M/F” and “Chorus III: Intermediate Mixed” as their two alternate electives during the course request process in February.
- Chorus students must begin and remain in good standing with Maryville Choirs throughout the application and audition process to be considered for this ensemble.
