Graded Performances
Homecoming Pregame
- Who and What: Chorus 3 and 4 will perform the National Anthem and the MHS Alma Mater during pregame ceremonies at the Homecoming football game. Performance attire is causal–wear whatever you’d normally wear to a football game.
- When and Where: Friday, September 15. Students will meet in the MHS Choir/Orchestra Room at 5:45 pm for a reception honoring our MHS Chorus Alumni and to install 2 new honorees on the Wall of Fame. We’ll run through the songs together and head out to the field at 6:30 pm and perform at 6:50. Students will be fee to go after the performance.
Fall Gala Concert
- Who and What: Chorus 1, 3, and 4 students will present the annual Fall Gala Chorus Concert. This concert raises funds for the Maryville Choirs Scholarship Fund. Cost to attend is $5 and tickets may be purchased at the door.
- When and Where: The concert takes place at 7 pm on Thursday Sept 28 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church on Lamar Alexander Pkwy. Call time for students is 5 pm. Students should bring their concert attire with them. We’ll have an on-site walkthrough rehearsal for an hour before eating dinner together at 6 pm. Doors open for the audience at 6:30, concert at 7.
High School Veteran’s Day Assembly Performance
- Who and What: Chorus 3 and Chorus 4 students will perform in MHS’s annual Veteran’s Day Assembly.
- When and Where: Thursday, Nov 9, 9:30 in the morning in the MHS Gymnasium. Chorus students will report to the gym at 8:45 for soundcheck and run-through.
Junior High Veteran’s Day Assembly Performance
- Who and What: Vocal Music and Chorus 1 will perform “America the Beautiful” and “The National Anthem” at the Junior High’s Veteran’s Day Student Assembly. Concert attire is casual, but we’d like for students to wear nice jeans and patriotic colors.
- When and Where: MJHS Gymnasium at 2 pm on Friday Nov 10. Parents are welcome to attend.
Orchestra Concert Cameo Appearance
- Who and What: Chorus 1, Chorus 3, and Chorus 4 students will sing The First Noel in a cameo appearance on the Orchestra Holiday Concert. Concert attire is formal (gowns, blazers, and robes).
- When and Where: The Orchestra Holiday Concert takes place on Thursday, Nov 30, at 7 pm at the Clayton Center. Doors open at 6:30, and admission is free. Call time for students is 6:15 pm. Dinner will not be provided for the students.
Holiday Sacred Choral Concert
- Who and What: Vocal Music, Chorus 1, Chorus 3, and Chorus 4 students will present the annual MHS Holiday Sacred Choral Concerts. Admission is free. Students will perform in formal concert attire.
- When and Where: Both concerts will take place on Thursday, December 7 in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church on Lamar Alexander Pkwy. The 8th graders perform at 6:30 pm and the 9th-12th grades perform at 7:15. Call time for all students is 5 pm for a walk-through rehearsal. Dinner will be provided for the students.

Foothills Invitational Choral Masterclass
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and 4 students will participate in the Foothills Choral Festival. The Festival is a Choral Masterclass and we’ll work with expert clinicians to refine our festival repertoire. Students will not perform in formal attire.
- When and Where: The festival takes place on Saturday, February 17 in the Lambert Recital Hall on the Maryville College campus The schedule for the day has not yet been set, but we will certainly be done by 4 pm.
Midwinter Concert
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and 4 students will present their festival repertoire in formal concert attire.
- When and Where: Monday, March 4 at 7 pm in the sanctuary at Maryville’s First Baptist Church on Lamar Alexander Pkwy. Call time for students is 6:30 pm. Admission is free.
JB Lyle Choral Festival and Field Trip
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and Chorus 4 students will travel to Chattanooga to participate in the JB Lyle Choral Festival. This is our annual regional choral festival that qualifies us to participate in the State Festival in April. Students will perform in formal concert attire.
- When and Where: The field trip takes place on Tuesday, March 5. We’ll leave the MHS campus at 7:30 am and return after the end of the school day. The festival performances are held in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga.
Middle School Showcase Performance
- Who and What: VM students will present their festival repertoire in formal concert attire in a concert with other Blount County Middle School choirs.
- When and Where: Monday, March 25 at 7 pm in the sanctuary at Maryville’s First Baptist Church on Lamar Alexander Pkwy. Call time for students is 6:30 pm. Admission is free.
Middle School Choral Festival and Field Trip
- Who and What: VM students will participate in a field trip to Oak Ridge, TN to participate in our annual regional choral festival. Students will perform in formal concert attire.
- When and Where: The ETVA MS Choral Festival takes place on Thursday, April 4 at the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge. We’ll leave from MJHS around 9 am, eat lunch at Cici’s Pizza on the way back, and return to MJHS before the end of the school day.
Spring Choral Concert
- Who and What: All Chorus students will participate in formal concert attire in our end-of-the-year Spring Concert.
- When and Where: Thursday, April 18 at 7 pm in the sanctuary of Maryville’s First Baptist Church on Lamar Alexander Pkwy. Call time for students is 6:30 pm. Admission is free.
State Festival Performance
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and Chorus 4 students will participate in the annual TN ACDA state high school festival in formal concert attire, pending Superior ratings from our regional festival.
- When and Where: Friday, April 19 on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The schedule for the day has not yet been set, but students will miss most of the school day to participate in this field trip.
HS Festival in the Parks Performance
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and Chorus 4 students will participate in a local adjudicated choral festival associated with the Festival in the Parks group. Students will perform in formal concert attire.
- When and Where: Friday, May 3 on the campus of a TBD school in the Pigeon Forge area. The schedule for the day has not yet been set, but our performance will be sometime in the evening.

Graduation Ceremony Performance
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and Chorus 4 students will perform at the annual Graduation Ceremony in formal concert attire.
- When and Where: Graduation takes place on Friday, May 10 in the MHS football stadium. Ceremony begins at 6:30, call time for students is 6 pm in the HS Choir Room.
Graded After-School Rehearsals
Fall Gala Concert Combined Rehearsal
- Who and What: Chorus 1, 3, and 4 will stay after school for a combined rehearsal to prepare for the Fall Gala Concert.
- When and Where: Monday, Sept 25 at 3:30pm in the MHS Choir/Orchestra room. Chorus 1 students will ride first-run busses from the Junior High over to the High School, where they can be picked up after the rehearsal is over. This rehearsal will end no later than 5 pm.
JH After-School Vet’s Day Rehearsal
- Who and What: Vocal Music and Chorus 1 will stay after school to rehearse the two songs for the Nov 10 Veteran’s Day Assembly together.
- When and Where: Monday, Oct 30 at 3:30 pm in the MJHS Choir Room. This rehearsal will end no later than 5 pm.
8th grade Holiday Sacred Concert Combined Rehearsal #1
- Who and What: Vocal Music students will stay after school to rehearse their combined music for the Holiday Sacred Concert.

- Who and What: Vocal Music students will stay after school to rehearse their combined music for the MS Choral Festival.

- When and Where: Monday, April 8 at 3:30 pm in the MHS Choir/Orchestra room. This rehearsal will end no later than 5 pm.
Baccalaureate and Graduation Combined Rehearsal
- Who and What: Chorus 1 and 4 students will stay after school to rehearse their combined music for the Graduation Ceremony.
- When and Where: Monday, April 29 at 3:30 pm in the MHS Choir/Orchestra room. This rehearsal will end no later than 5 pm.
All-East and All-State
UTK All-East Clinic
- Who and What: 10th-12th grade All-East candidates are invited to join us for a field trip to UT Knoxville for the annual All-East Clinic. Students will spend the day with UT Chorus and Voice faculty rehearsing and preparing the All-East audition repertoire. Students should bring their All-East sheet music, a pencil, $5 to help with transportation costs, and money for lunch on Cumberland Avenue.
- When and Where: The clinic takes place in the UTK Music Building Saturday, Aug 26. We’ll take a bus from MHS, leaving from the MHS Gymnasium entrance at 8:30 am and returning around 4:30 pm.
All-East 10-12 Auditions
- Who and What: 10th-12th grade All-East candidates will audition for acceptance to All-East.
- When and Where: Students will be scheduled for individual auditions throughout the day, and may be called to audition up to 1 hour before their scheduled time. Auditions are held at Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville. Students must provide or arrange their own transportation.

Chorus Night Out (not happening this year)
Who and What: VM, Ch1, Ch3, and Ch4 (all chorus students) field trip to UTK to catch their Fall Choral Concert. We’ll start with a pizza party at MHS before loading busses to go to KnoxvilleWhen and Where: We’ll meet in the MHS Cafeteria at 6pm for pizza. Arrival at the James R. Cox Auditorium around 7:30 to sit as a group for the 8 pm concert. Will be back at MHS by 9:40 pm.Cost: $5 to help with pizza and the busses.

Chorale Audition Workshop
- Who and What: All candidates for the 2024 Chorale are invited to an audition workshop to help them prepare for their Chorale audition. This workshop is intended for new-to-choir candidates, but all are invited to participate.
- When and Where: Saturday, Jan 13 beginning at 10 am in the MHS Choir/Orchestra Room. The workshop will end at noon.
Chorale Auditions
- Who and What: All candidates for the 2024 Chorale will participate in after-school auditions to determine the final roster of the class.
- When and Where: Auditions take place after school each day. Callback rosters will be published on mchoirs.com by 8 pm each evening.
Spring Voice Recital
- Who and What: All private voice students will present their solo pieces in a recital.
